The Last Villains: Mad Dog and the Butcher Review

If you’re a fan of wrestling, you’ve probably heard or have watched a segment featuring the Canadian wrestling legends Mad Dog and Butcher Vachon. In the documentary, The Last Villains: Mad Dog and the Butcher we get a behind the curtains look at one of wrestling’s early wrestling families as the last surviving member of the Vachon wrestling legacy Paul “The Butcher” Vachon recounts his story from a young boy to the successful career he enjoyed at his brother, Maurice “Mad Dog” Vachon’s side in professional wrestling. I remember watching these wrestling legends when I was just a kid during their final years as they stood side by side with such greats as Andre The Giant, Mean Gene Oakerland and even Hulk Hogan on Maple…

Lost Words: Beyond the Page (Xbox Series X) – Review

Lost Words: Beyond the Page is a typical yet a uniquely conceptualized and simple 2D platformer from Sketchbook games and Modus Games. Players assume the role of a young girl named Izzy who dreams of nothing more than becoming a writer. Izzy is also quite close with her grandmother who supports Izzy’s aspirations. Izzy decides to buckle down and just do what writers do and write. The story bounces between the pages of Izzy’s personal daily journal and the pages of the fantasy world she’s created called Estoria where players take control of Georgia, another young girl whose “Village Elder” passes on the responsibility of caring for her village. What’s neat about Lost Words: Beyond the Page is during the story sequences where we learn…

The Medium Review – Xbox Series X

If you’ve been around here for a while, then you know that I’m a big fan of horror film and atmospheric horror games like Resident Evil, Alien Isolation and the Layers of Fear series. Bloober Team announced The Medium would be a launch title for the new generation of Xbox games coming to Xbox Gamepass and I was immediately excited. The aesthetics of it were like nothing I’ve seen before with a split screen mechanic that looked most impressive in the videos shown early on. After a delay from the original December release by about 6-7 weeks we finally got to take the latest title from the house of horror Bloober Team. The Medium puts players in the role of Marianne, a person with incredible…

Olija Review (Xbox Series X)

Olija follows a man named Faraday who is shipwrecked in a mysterious country named Terraphage. Armed with his harpoon, Faraday explores the world of Terraphage and discovers strange people/creatures and overcomes various obstacles and puzzles. During his time in Terraphage, he also encounters a woman woman named Olija, who seems to be connected with Faraday in some way. Beyond that, the story is meant to be experienced, and I think that those of you who dive in, will be pulled into the narrative and you’ll enjoy it.  The gameplay is also quite simple but as effective as anything you’ll play this week. Olija is a side-scrolling title that has the same sort of feel in level design as you may have found with early generation…

Cobra Kai – Season 3 Review

If you haven’t been watching Cobra Kai, I have to ask what rock you’ve been living under. Also, stop reading this review now because there will be minor spoilers about the previous 2 seasons which set up the events of season 3. Also know that I will be doing my best to avoid any major spoilers from season 3 though there may be a few minor points. The season picks up shortly after the tragic events of season 2 which left Miguel in a hospital bed after the rumble in the school between the 2 warring dojos. Johnny’s lost his beloved business to his old sensei John Kreese, Robby is MIA running from the law, Sam has PTSD after the rumble and her fight with…

Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead (Xbox Series X)

Mars Horizon – Review (Xbox One X/Series X)

I stumbled on Mars Horizon over the summer when it was in Beta and I instantly felt a sense of loss when the time ran out. I’ve been very excited to see what this game was in it’s final form so let’s dive in. Mars Horizon puts players in the drivers seat so to say of a major space agency, taking mankind from the dawn of the space age right up until colonization of Mars. As the head of this organization, you’ll be tasked with setting research goals, planning space missions, receiving and allocating funds, and nurturing diplomatic relations with other agencies. There’s a whole lot of strategy and management but there’s also a little luck involved. Many missions, especially later in the game, have…

The Falconeer – Review (Xbox One X Xbox Series X)

To say that the Falconeer is an impressive feat made by and large by one man Tomas Sala would be an understatement. This review is a shade late but that was because I really wanted to play this on the Series X and my order was delayed in arriving here.  The Falconeer is an incredibly ambitious and pretty as hell aerial combat game that puts players in control of Falconeers, warriors who fly giant birds of prey with weapons attached to them. Its set in the world of The Great Ursee. The Great Ursee is made of mostly of water with islands scattered throughout where piracy is rampant and wars between rival civilizations break out at a moments notice. While flying around, you’ll perform a…
